Cosmo Will Appear (Probably) and Bug Will Not Appear in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY

During an AMC interview with James Gunn, Chris Pratt, and Kevin Feige, when asked if Cosmo would be in the film, producer Kevin Feige said "Fans of Cosmo will have to wait and see the movie." With no denial and the inclusion of Knowhere in the film, I would say that there's a big possibility of Cosmo (the telepathic Russian dog) showing up.

Bad news: Gunn admitted that Bug (a former member of GOTG)was in an early draft of the script, but will not be in the film. However, if the film is successful, there will be a sequel, according to Kevin Feige and James Gunn!

  1. Glad to hear Cosmo will likely appear in the film, I think the relationship between Cosmo and Rocket will work well in the movie. Sucks that Bug won't make an appearance but maybe in Guardians 2!

  2. I just love listening to Gunn talk about this film. He has an obvious huge love for what they did, and I can not wait to share in the love.

  3. Gunn also said that Tantalus appeared in an earlier draft of the script, before being dropped.

    1. That's true. I'm still holding out hope that Mantis will appear.

  4. I think a Guardians of the Galaxy sequel will be a part of Phase 3 movies. If they are really leaning towards the Infinity Gauntlet arc (which we will find out in this the first GotG movie) with Thanos as the big bad baddie in Avengers 3, they will need to introduce Adam Warlock who is the owner of Soul Gem.
I'm crossing my fingers to see Quasar (hopefully Phylla Vell), Mantis, Bug and hopefully Moondragon to be included in the sequel.

    1. I feel like we'll probably see Adam Warlock at least alluded to in the first film. There's a lot of speculation that Adam Warlock's Cocoon was in The Collector's trophy room at the end of Thor: The Dark World.

  5. Just hearing that Bug was in an early script makes me really confident in Gunn. I just made this comment on another article below, but Gunn is clearly just as big a fan of the 2008 Guardians as we all are. You can tell both from the trailer and in what he says that its really drawing from that run.

And don't forget that Bug didn't make the first iteration of the team in the comics either :) Remember that whole "How come I'm one of the back-ups and you never called me?" thing.

  6. Looking forward to seeing Cosmo and Knowhere in the film. That's great news and hope its not a blink-and-miss scene. Hopeful for Bug and even Mantis to appear and possibly make the roster in the team lineup. They already changed Drax's story from the comics but hopefully Adam Warlock's will be more or less intact.
