New Marvel GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Minimate Figures!

Marvel has released a picture of their upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie-based Minimate figures by Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum. From the Marvel site, the figures are described in detail: "The two-packs will pair Star-Lord with Ronan the Accuser, Drax with Groot, Gamora with a Nova Corps Centurion and Nebula with a Sakaaran Trooper. Each two-inch, fully-poseable mini-figure features interchangeable parts and accessories, including a mask for Star-Lord, knives for Drax and a non-poseable micro-figure of Rocket to hang out with Groot!"

There is no official release date yet, but they are said to be released before the film on August 1st. What do you think about the figures? Will you be buying any of them? Which is your favorite? Drop us a comment below!

  1. So, Rocket's only presence in the set is as an accessory? Hmm.

    1. Must be because he's half the size of the other figures.

    2. Well, good thing there are *plenty* of other awesome Rocket toys already planned. So, no big loss, really. Although, as a matter of principle, bothers me a little bit.

    3. I'd rather get the LEGO figures anyway. Minimates always look weird to me. Just not my taste.

    4. Well Leo, I don't really feel it's a "principal" thing. I've been in toy collecting for a few years and this is what companies do. Smaller characters that require a lesser amount of materials tend to get bundled with other figures for cost reasons and such.
Also sometimes smaller characters will have less articulation (like that one Rocket in that gotg hasbro bundle thing) because they'd have to make adjustments to the way they make joints and such, which would cost extra money, and to them the return won't be worth it. So it's just companies being companies, no need to be worried.

  2. I dunno... Rocket looks poseable on the pic. I wonder if there's a SECOND version of Rocket that comes with Groot that's extra small and can fit on his shoulder or something.
