PREVIEW: GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY Prelude #2

Next Wednesday (May 28th), the second 'Guardians of the Galaxy Movie Prelude Comic' will be released to comic stores everywhere. The issue was written by the great Andy Lanning and Dan Abnett, who also wrote the much beloved Volume 2 of Guardians of the Galaxy.

The issue features some backstory on Rocket Raccoon (yes, we will continue to call him that) and his loveable, deadly tree friend, Groot. It takes place before the duo team up with Peter Quill, Gamora, and Drax. At the start of the comic, Rocket and Groot are at a space station called 'The Hub,' and seem to have gotten into a fair bit of trouble with some criminals. The issue looks to be a lot of fun, and with DnA writing it, I'm sure it will be fantastic, just like the last movie prelude comic (the Nebula one).

  2. Is it wrong that I hear the voice of the narrator from Space Dandy (the English dub, obviously) when I read the narration here?

    1. No, you are very right. Dammit, now I want a Space Dandy/Guardians crossover!

    2. I love how the Space Dandy narrator gives zero flarks about anything.....except Boobies.

But yeah, a Space Dandy/GotG crossover would be beautiful. There's even a pic on Tumblr of Dandy with Star-Lord's mask on.

  3. Woah woah woah. Hold the phone.
Does that say Rocket is from Halfworld?
All doubts I had about movie Rocket are gone.

  5. Well, unlike the first prelude (featuring Nebula), this one's basically a stand-alone story of Rocket and Groot, which means doesn't contribute/explain deeper to the story. We get to see Groot's ability though, which I'm sure will be utilized in the movie as well. Art-wise, the Nebula one looks better but this ain't bad.
Definitely makes you looking forward to see both characters in the movie...
