Guardians of the Galaxy Animated Show First Look?

While merely a rumor at the moment, this picture taken from
the Licensing Expo shows what could be the next line-up from Marvel. Clearly we have Avengers Assemble and Ultimate Spider-Man, but the real exciting part for us Galaxians is the prospect of a GotG animated series! Their over-all look seems to be a mix of the MCU and previous incarnations from the more recent cartoons. The shot of Drax especially reminds of me of their Ultimate Spider-Man episode. Of course there's nothing official yet, and this may just be a mock-up, cobbled together from different images to represent the show. Nonetheless, exciting!
What do you think, Galaxians? Anyone you're rooting for to voice our Guardians? Think it will open up the opportunity to see other cosmic heroes? Let us know in the comments below!

  1. The look is great, I hope the stories will be too, but I'm going to be optimistic. 8D

  2. I really hope they do an animated series. I would definitely watch it. Marvel animation has been extremely lacking ever since the untimely cancellation of Earth's Mightiest Heroes. A Guardians series could be just the ticket for an animation renaissance.

  3. I'm just as excited for the Guardians movie as anyone and you'd have to look pretty hard to find a bigger Guardians fan then me, but the reason the Green Lantern tv show got canned was because the movie bombed so how about we wait to see how the movie does before we green light a cartoon.
I really, really hope this show is in the vain of EMH and not Ultimate Spider-Man or the awful new Avengers show! I really hope they get a new voice cast and get rid of Billy D West and his Joe Peshi Raccoon. So if this show takes place in the same universe as the Ultimate Spider-Man tv then that would mean that Sam Alexander is Nova before Richard Rider and that Sam is a founding and core member of the Guardians instead of Richard and has the possibility of knowing Rhomann Dey Richard Rider's surrogate father Obi-Wan Kenobi figure? That's is straight up Heresy!

  4. ''Think it will open up the opportunity to see other cosmic heroes?'' Nah. It will probably be just another underwhelming movie tie-in like Avengers Assemble.

    1. AA was /very/ underwhelming, that's true, but EMH was good, the only episode I saw of Ultimate Spider-Man with Nova and GotG wasn't terrible. It was a damn sight better than any of the Teen Titan cartoons. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Marvel doesn't drop the ball with this one.

    2. Hey! the 2003 Teen Titans cartoon by Glenn Murakami was awesome! It was also partially based on Marv Wolfan's run.

  5. It depends on the rating and writing of the show.

If it's TV-G, or TV-PG, and it's on in the afternoon or nighttime, and the writers are those that did Avengers: EMH, then it'll work.

If it's anything like Agents of SMASH, or this new Avengers cartoon, then...no.

As for the voices, I'm kinda hoping some of the cast come back to do their own characters. I doubt Vin Diesel will do a voice, but maybe Karen Gillan as Nebula, and perhaps Bautista as Drax? Who knows...

  6. I'm not hatin', but this site has dropped the ball on Guardians of the Galaxy news about a month ago... I am getting much more information on the film, merchandise, rumors, and everything else from other sites (i.e. Comicbookmovie.com & superherohype.com)... :-(

  7. Now lets hope it stays away from the Bendis garbage. (Oh who am I kidding, it won't and it'll be terrible)

  9. While I'm pretty excited for this, and there's no doubt I'll watch it - I do wish they went with the more classic character designs that they've been using for their appearances in the marvel animated shows as opposed to the far inferior movie designs. Oh well.
